On May 25 2008 the Honourable Jason Kenney, Secretary of State for Multiculturalism and Canadian Identity installed a Historic Sites and Monuments Board of Canada plaque in Kensington Market. Later in 2006, the Historic Sites and Monuments Board of Canada designated Kensington Market as a site of national historic significance transforming the neighbourhood into a national landmark.
